EOSC meets RDA in Helsinki

On 23-25 October 2019 the RDA 14th Plenary took place in Helsinki, Finland. This year’s theme was “Data Makes the Difference”. This plenary was accompanied by several co-located events, such as the CODATA-Helsinki Workshop on FAIR RDM in Institutions 2019 or the workshop “Building a Matrix about the Technologies Used by Research Infrastructures” organized by GEDE (more about this workshop here).

The EOSCsecretariat.eu, in collaboration with the EOSC Executive Board and the RDA, organized the event “ The International Research Data Community contributing to EOSC” which was hosted by the Aalto University and brought together 230 participants from 33 different countries eager to discuss the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

Hans-Josef Linkens, Chair of the EOSC Governance Board, Head of Division for Research Data at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and Member of the GO FAIR Steering Committee commented

“A regular and thorough exchange between science and Governing Board is vital for a successful process towards a European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The success of the EOSC has to be measured by its benefits for scientists, science and society. The RDA event with its many fruitful discussions between researchers and policy makers, but also with international experts, was very helpful in this respect.” [quote from the workshop report]
