Other major international players in the FAIR realm are obviously the Research Data Alliance (RDA), the permanent Committee on Data of the International Council for Science (CODATA) and the private sector. With RDA, GO FAIR Implementation Networks (INs) and the GO FAIR International Support and Coordination Office (GFISCO) are already building a practical working relationship with mutual benefit. The “cracking of intellectual nuts” and “community needs” are mostly emerging from the grassroots RDA organisation working groups, frequently including members that also participate in one or multiple GO FAIR INs. GO FAIR INs themselves are mainly focused on practical testing-out and implementation of new developments. Obviously, there is a productive overlap between RDA and GO FAIR initiatives. The dovetailing of RDA and GO FAIR is seen as a complementary and synergistic option. There is certainly more than enough space for all three internationally mandated ‘data players’ in the enormous challenge that the IFDS poses.
