The GO FAIR Brazil Support and Coordination office is hosted by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology. It is a government institute subordinate to the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication. IBICT has extensive experience in the implementation of infrastructures to support information in science and technology, and in the formulation of policies for supporting Open Science, which is well aligned with the GO FAIR initiative.
GO FAIR Brazil was established at the end of 2018 as one of the first GO FAIR national offices. The Declaration of GO FAIR Brazil was signed at the SciELO 20th anniversary event.

Main focus & activities
GO FAIR Brazil commits to the following activities in the context of Brazilian science and innovation:

  • Support and coordinate participating institutes in Implementation Networks according to their specific goals in adopting the approved implementation strategies/guidelines defined by the GO FAIR initiative;
  • Support and coordinate Implementation Networks that are willing to define strategies and guidelines for the implementation of the FAIR principles, in the cases where these strategies/guidelines are missing;
  • Review and consolidate the existing implementation strategies/guidelines and the ones created by the supported Implementation Networks, ensuring that they follow the FAIR principles;
  • Develop outreach mechanisms for the implementation strategies/guidelines defined by the Implementation Networks and approved by the GO FAIR initiative;
  • Keep intensive communication with the GO FAIR International Support and Coordination Office (GFISCO)
